Institute for Edusemiotic studies (IES) is registered in Melbourne, Australia, ABN: AU-84692871292.
The Institute is devoted to research, development and dissemination of results in the new field of inquiry: Edusemiotics. Edusemiotics is an integrative conceptual framework at the crossover of semiotics (the science of signs) and educational theory/philosophy of education. IES is proud to include such Honorary Members as Profs. John Deely (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/), Marcel Danesi (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcel_Danesi), Winfried Nöth (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winfried_N%C3%B6th), Susan Petrilli (http://www.susanpetrilli.com/) and Andrew Stables (http://www.roehampton.ac.uk/staff/Andrew-Stables/).
Dr. Inna Semetsky (https://columbia.academia.edu/InnaSemetsky; www.innasense.org) serves as a Chief Consultant to IES and can be contacted by email: irs5@columbia.edu.
IES is affiliated with the larger community of inquirers comprising the International Association for Semiotic Studies (IASS). As a transdisciplinary field of study and a new branch of theoretical semiotics, edusemiotics was formally launched at the 12th World Congress of IASS that took place at the New Bulgarian University in Sofia, Bulgaria, 16-20 September 2014 (see http://www.semio2014.org/). IES collaborates with the Network of semiotics and education (see https://wwwedu.oulu.fi/semed/): some members of the network participated in the recent research projects that resulted in two major publications: special issue Vol. 2016, Issue 212 (Sep 2016) "On Edusemiotics" of Semiotica-journal of the International Association for Semiotic Studies (http://www.degruyter.com/loi/semi) and a comprehensive volume "Edusemiotics--A Handbook" published in 2017 by Springer (see http://link.springer.com/book/10.1007%2F978-981-10-1495-6).
Edusemiotics brings together both "construction" and "expression" of meaning, thus representing a constructive/expressive synthesis. In this regard, this short video on YouTube is informative (thank you to the creators of this video): https://youtu.be/r5qwKYRkT8w
